Issues of European standardisation in the area of railway applications are settled by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 256, part of the CEN (European Committee for Standardization,www.cen.eu) seated in Brussels, Belgium.
Experts of the VÚKV a.s. contribute to activities of the following working groups:
CEN/TC 256/WG2 - Structural requirements
CEN/TC 256/WG10 - Vehicle/Track Interaction
CEN/TC 256/SC 3/WG 25 - Braking; terminology, calculations, homologation processes
CEN/TC 256/WG32 - Vehicle gauge
Issues of international standardisation in the area of railway applications are settled by the Technical Committee ISO/TC 269, part of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization, www.iso.org) seated in Geneva, Switzerland.
Expert of the VÚKV a.s. contributes to activities of the following working group:
ISO/TC 269/WG1 - Railway braking
The principal task of the representatives of the VÚKV a.s. in these working groups is mainly co-participation in revisions of standards, comment assessment, and discussions about experience in application of the standard requirements in practice.
VÚKV a.s. has also cooperated with the Czech Institute for Standardisation (ČNI,www.cni.cz). This cooperation is focused on providing expertise to the ČNI about the railway transport sector and, very importantly, also assistance with translations and proofreading of translations of European standards to the Czech language.
