Acceptance Tests of Railway Vehicle Ride Properties

Verification of ride properties is required by the following documents:

  • TSI,
  • UIC 432.

 Tests of ride properties of railway vehicles are performed on test tracks and railway tracks in the Czech Republic and also abroad. For the purpose of the ride tests the VÚKV a.s. uses its instrumented car for the maximum speed of 200 km/hr. The tests are performed in compliance with the following documents:

  • ČSN EN 14363,
  • UIC 518.

 The purpose of the tests is:

  • Verification of safety of the vehicle running,
  • Verification of the impact of the vehicle on the track,
  • Verification of dynamic properties (ride characteristics) of the vehicle and comfort for the passengers.

 The testing laboratory is equipped to carry out tests according methods as follows:

  • Measurement of forces between the vehicle and the track by the means of instrumented wheelsets together with acceleration measurement,
  • Measurement of lateral forces between the wheelset and the bogie frame with the help of H-force transducers together with acceleration measurement,
  • Acceleration measurement.

 Safety Against Derailment under Longitudinal Forces in S-shaped Curves

Safety against derailment in S-shaped curves is required by the following documents:

  • TSI,
  • UIC 530-2.

 The tests are performed on a special track within the premises of the Railway Testing Track at Cerhenice in compliance with the following documents:

  • TSI,
  • UIC 530-2.

 The purpose of the tests is to find out whether the tested vehicle is capable of safe running under the effect of push forces. The tests are performed with empty vehicles equipped with the necessary sensors and included in the test train of the prescribed composition. The train is pushed along the test rail. The required longitudinal compressive forces are acquired by braking of the front locomotives of the train. In the course of the test a set of required quantities is measured.

 Body to Bogie Yaw Torque Measurement

The test is carried out through simulation on a measurement turntable in compliance with the following documents:

  • TSI,
  • ČSN EN 14363,
  • ERRI B12/DT135,
  • UIC 507, UIC 510-1, UIC 569.

 The purpose of the test is to measure bogie rotation torques, both with empty and loaded vehicles.

The test is performed by turning the bogie at the prescribed speed and angle with measurement of force needed for the bogie turning.
